✓Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Head of Thoracic Surgery Department
A thoracic surgeon and pioneer in the international field of personalized surgical treatment for early-stage lung cancer. He identified a novel epidemiological characteristic—namely, the high incidence of early-stage lung cancer among young, female, non-smoking individuals in China, with GGO-associated lung cancer being predominant; he recognized that GGO-associated lung cancer represents a distinct clinical subtype and a unique phase in the natural course of lung cancer; he proposed the innovative concept of a "curative window period for early-stage lung cancer"; he introduced and established the new paradigm of personalized diagnosis and treatment as well as a novel clinical practice framework known as "Lung Cancer Minimally Invasive Surgery 3.0"; he pioneered the techniques of "frozen section pathology-guided sublobar resection" and "selective lymph node dissection in lung cancer surgery." The postoperative 5-and 10-year survival rates for patients with early-stage lung cancer under his care rank among the highest internationally. A series of his research studies have clarified the optimal surgical approach and the extent of lymph node dissection for mid-and lower-esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, making significant contributions to elevating the international standing and influence of China's thoracic surgery community.
