Zang Lu

With extensive experience in the comprehensive treatment of gastrointestinal tumors—primarily through minimally invasive surgery—this physician has successfully established a precision diagnostic and therapeutic framework for minimally invasive gastric cancer surgery. He spearheaded the compilation and authorship of China's first "Laparoscopic Gastric Cancer Surgery Operational Guidelines" and the "Chinese Expert Consensus on Precision Surgical Approaches for the Translational Management of Gastric Cancer." As a pioneer in China, he conducted the nation's first entirely laparoscopic gastric cancer surgeries and led multiple multicenter randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on laparoscopic surgical interventions for gastric and colorectal cancers. Committed to medical education, he served as the chief editor for several textbooks published by People's Medical Publishing House, including the "Handbook for General Surgery Residents," the French edition of "Surgery," and the "Notes on Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery."

He serves as a Standing Director of the European Laparoscopic Surgeons Association (ELSA), a member and secretary of the Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery Group under the Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Deputy Chairman of the Oncological Surgery Expert Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and Vice President of the Surgical Branch of the China Medical Equipment Association, among other positions. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and seven provincial/ministerial-level research projects; he has published 110 high-quality academic papers in domestic and international journals such as JCO and BJS, and holds five national patents. He has been honored with numerous awards, including the First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, the Shanghai Oriental Talent Award, the Baosteel Education Award, the Second Prize of the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Science and Technology Award, and the "Bethune-style Good Doctor" Award of China.
