Pei Jian

Director of the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Director of the Teaching and Research Section of Acupuncture at Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

From 2002 to 2006, he was a visiting scholar, visiting researcher, senior visiting scholar, and visiting professor (Fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service) at the Medical School of Ulm University, Germany. He served as the vice chairman of the Pain Branch of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the vice chairman of the Pain Branch of the China Association of Ethnic Medicine, the executive director of the Clinical Branch of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the executive director of the Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Branch of the Chinese Stroke Association, a member of the Experimental Acupuncture Branch of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the executive director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Immunology Branch of the Chinese Society for Immunology, a member of the International Federation of Immunology, the executive director of the Academic Schools Branch of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a director of the Brain Diseases Branch of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He also served as the vice president of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Immunology Branch of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the executive director of the Brain Diseases Professional Committee, and the executive director of the Internal Medicine Branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He served as the chairman of the Pain Branch of the Shanghai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the chairman of the Brain Diseases Branch of the Shanghai Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, the vice chairman of the Acupuncture Manipulation Professional Branch of the Shanghai Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and the vice chairman of the Academic Schools Branch of the Shanghai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He was also the head of the Shanghai School of Traditional Chinese Medicine Lu's Acupuncture Inheritance Research Base. He served as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and a member of the editorial board of the Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.

The main focus is on the clinical treatment, clinical evaluation, and research of acupuncture for nervous system diseases, chronic pain diseases, and immune-related diseases, including stroke hemiplegia, dementia, Parkinson's disease, facial nerve palsy, oculomotor nerve palsy, neuralgia (trigeminal neuralgia, sciatica, postherpetic neuralgia), motor neuron diseases, muscle spasms, muscle weakness, and chronic pain diseases.
